The
Meditherm 7912 from Gaymar in the USA, is a
very easy to use machine that improves patient care,
by allowing precise control by the clinician/nurse
over cooling or re warming rates in patients.
Clinicians in the USA were recently asked how patients
could be better treated after a cardiac arrest,
stroke, head injury, septic shock or other illness
or insult that requires initial cooling for a period,
then re warming. The feedback was that better control
was required! |

| Clinicians
asked for better control in cooling their patients
and then with better control, in the most cases,
a more gradual, kinder, re warming phase for their
patients, one that made sure all of the good work
in the 24 hour cooling phase wasn't then lost with
a too quick a re warming phase! The Meditherm 7912,
can quickly or gradually cool a patient from 37
deg°C or more to 33-34 deg°C in less than
30 - 40 minutes. The Meditherm 7912 can then maintain
the desired patient temperature, then increase it
either gradually or very gradually, after the period
of therapeutic cooling! This gradual process may
decrease shivering and re bound hyperthermia. A
gradual re warming time of 16-24 hrs is recommended,
which equates to a 0.17 deg°C increase in the
patient's temperature, per hour! Simply dial in
the new desired temperature and press the tortoise,
not the hare!
The Meditherm 7912 uses no
expensive disposable components! The Meditherm
7912 uses a re usable, random flow, water mattress
that sits below the patient. If finer control is
needed a shorter mattress can also be run in tandem
on the top of the patient. If the patient needs
constant re positioning then our single patient
use water vest is recommended as an economical option.
If you require an inexpensive disposable mattress,
then these are also available and in stock. We do
not stock a head wrap as these are clinically unproven. |
